Compare our Pop Up Electrical Sockets

At Modern Power Solutions, there are a few options to choose from when selecting the best pop up power outlet for your use case. This blog will go through and compare the different models to help customers find their most suitable one.

Currently, there are multiple ranges available starting from the V1 range (version 1), up to V14 (version 14) and additionally the Point Pod range. Note, not all model ranges are available in every region, and some are discontinued. See below for more information.

V1 Range
The V1 range is a basic pop up power outlet designed for offices and workshops. It is also suitable for kitchens. It has a plastic top, sturdy design and affordable price. It requires a manual pull up, so does not have any mechanism for it to raise automatically.

V2 Range
The V2 range is a kitchen countertop outlet with a nice top finish and strong build. It features USB ports and is a popular choice by many customers.

V3 Range
The V3 range is a motorized-lifting pop-up unit. It goes up and down with the touch of the button on its lid. LED’s under the glass lid indicate its status. The V3 range also features a spill sealed lid and wireless charging.

The V3C range fits within a 95mm (3 3/4 inch) hole diameter. There is one USB-C and one USB-A port providing 10w of power and 2x power outlets.

The V3L range fits within a 65mm (2.56" inch) hole diameter. There is one USB-C and two USB-A ports providing 10w of power and 2x standard power sockets.

The V3 range is plug and play, it comes fitted with a plug on a 1.8m (6ft) cable, so it is easy to connect to power under your bench.

V5 Range
The V5 is a manual retractable pop up countertop outlet with a rubber seal when closed. The V5 range features USB charging and dual power outlets.

V7 Range
The V7 range is a more compact variation of the V2 range, designed for kitchens to fit within a 80mm diameter hole.

V8 Range
The V8 range is a budget, ultra compact office pop up power socket designed to fit within a 60mm diameter hole.

V14 Range
The V14 range is a gas-strut operated pop-up unit. It raises by pressing down on its lid. The V14 features a Qi wireless charging top, four power sockets, 1x USB-A port, 1x USB-C port and 2x RJ45 ports for data and phone (optional connection).

The V14 range is plug and play, it comes fitted with a plug on a 1.8m (6ft) cable, so it is easy to connect to power under your bench.

V3 vs V14 range?
The V14 range is larger in diameter but shorter than the V3 range (120mm hole vs 95mm hole)

Benefits of V3 over V14?
The V3 range is a futuristic-looking power point with LED indicators on its glass top and lifts automatically with a motor by the touch of a button. The V3 also features a rubber seal around the lid which is watertight when closed. In terms of size, the V3 fits in a smaller hole which may be preferable for tighter spaces. The V3 is better suited for kitchen countertops.

Benefits of V14 over V3?
The V14’s key features are its abundance of connectivity, featuring four power, two USB, and two RJ45 – more than the V3 range. The V14 has a simpler plain top – single colour without the elements of LED’s, glass and designs on the V3.

Verdict:
The V14 has more features, but the V3 range is watertight when closed, making it better for wetter areas, and the motorised functionality is unique. At the end of the day, it is up to personal preference and use case requirements.

Note: the V4, V9, V12 ranges are not pop up power outlets, they are fixed horizontal desktop units designed for offices. The V6 range has been discontinued, and the V10, V11, V13 range never made it to market.
